April in Paris - Main Stage

APRIL IN PARIS

BY JOHN GODBER

8th-12th March 2022

Five lesbians eating a quiche

NTPD are delighted to bring you an hilarious comedy for March with John Godbers classic April in Paris.

Originally performed in our studio Theatre just before lockdown Joanne Holt and Lyndon Vaughan Prosser will reprise this on the main stage as a fun way to start the Spring.

PLOT

Al and Bet are stuck in a rut. Married for 26 years, their conversations are running dry and life has taken its toll. With his building work sparse and her shifts at the shoe shop getting few and far between there’s little to look forward to, apart from a possible ABBA tribute show and the odd trip to the pub.

But Bet has dreams. She longs to walk with the Pharaohs in Egypt, sunbathe on golden beaches and climb Alpine mountains, all fuelled by her love of magazine competitions with holidays as prizes. Finally, her luck changes; she wins a night away for two to Paris in April, via a luxury trip on P&O Ferries out of Hull. Now all she has to do is persuade her long suffering husband to go with her.

This fabulous comedy is sure to raise more than a few laughs as Al and Bet’s rekindle their romance, as they grapple with Le menu and Le metro, amidst the baguettes, Beaujolais and the steak tartare!
